Studies show it should be!
We’ve spoken before about the growing importance of video for business, and the statistics continue to pile up in favor of that fact. According to a study done by ReelSEO in early 2011, 94 of AdAge’s top 100 advertisers ran campaigns on YouTube. In addition, the total number of advertisers using YouTube increased 10-fold in all of 2010.
In 2011, the world’s biggest video site generated an estimated $1.6 billion in revenue. Anthony DiClemente of Barclays Capital estimated that YouTube commands a staggering 80% of Web video revenues, estimating the entire market at roughly $2 billion in 2011.
YouTube is the world’s most popular video-viewing platform, with over 2 billion hits a day. The advertising potential is astounding, with a multitude of various ways to reach one’s target audience. Says Mashable:
The site is monetizing more than 2 billion video views per week… Now that mobile is exploding, so too is YouTube mobile — it’s the most-trafficked video-viewing mobile website, garnering 7.1 million unique visitors each month.
What does that mean for businesses?
Simply put, it means you must put serious consideration into developing and marketing yourself via video. Far from being just a case of “everyone’s doing it”, this is an issue of serious marketing potential and long-term benefits.
